After my first few months of hosting Morning Classics at WGTE, I was approached to create radio stories for FM 91. WGTE had been interested in creating an arts and culture program for some time and I was lucky enough to be brought on as a producer. After about a year of pre-production, the arts and culture program eventually morphed into the full-fledged series, The Rough Draft Diaries.
This series is an ongoing, short form radio podcast that explores the social and cultural fabric of the local community, while uncovering personal stories and experiences that resonate globally.
At the end of each six minute episode, I ask my guest to suggest three different possibilities for a story, from which one is chosen. The program then unfolds in serial form, as each step in the journey is connected to what came before. The series airs every Wednesday morning at 7:45 during Morning Edition on FM 91. You can find the full series on Itunes, PRX, or WGTE’s Website. But a selection of episodes is located below.
